I began this journey in January 2012 as a New Year’s resolution. I started out at 236 lbs with a goal to have a six pack by summer, and not the kind of six pack I used to enjoy. I finally came to a realization that something had to change with my life choices towards food, beer, and activity.
At that time, I started a 1600-calorie-a-day, balanced diet combined with a new dedication to get more exercise. Plus, I would only drink beer one day a week instead of every day. So I replaced the beer in the refrigerator with water.
I feel strongly that my health and wellness program has been a key tool in enhancing self-discipline and providing critical positive visual feedback that has kept me focused on my end goal of improving my quality of life. Plus the pedometer, to me, serves each day as my new life coach, my reminder, and friend.
I am happy to say after starting this endeavor in January I have lost 42 pounds. I have about 14 more pounds to lose to reach my goal. Everything about me has changed; my mental state of mind, my body, and my endurance. I am looking ever forward toward my next goal or adventure!

Congratulations, Terry, I applaud your strength, willpower, and persistence.
